Priorities
Posted in School, Uncategorized, Web Design and Technology, Writing on 10/14/2008 11:07 am by Elizabeth KayleneI need to follow Miss Britt’s lead and prioritize. (If you want to skip my boring to-do list, help me figure out why we beat ourselves up!)
I have a long list of projects. Every time I turn around, another one pops up and insists on being completed as well. (For example, as I plan this year’s NaNoWriMo novel an old WIP pops up and begs to be completed.) I have priorities and I have things that I think are priorities. The question is, which are which?
Here is my list of projects:
- Creative Writing homework, which includes reading four chapters by Thursday and completing the exercises assigned.
- Visual Basic homework, which consists of finishing Lab #3 (hard programming) and doing Tutorial #4.
- Painting I, which involves doing a painting for Thursday.
- Finishing the design of the Letters of Love website and Community. (This has been a long project that never seems to get finished. I want it done so that when people visit the site they don’t see the plainness that it is now. Sigh.)
- Finishing the first draft of The Cure Program, which was last year’s NaNo novel.
- Writing the second draft of The Praying Mantis Experiment, which was 2005′s NaNo novel. (I gave up on 2006′s NaNo novel a long time ago, by the way.)
- Preparing for this year’s NaNo novel, Thumbtacks. This involves writing up character profile sheets, creating an outline and then waiting impatiently for the 1st to get here.
- Redesigning my web design site. Its current look was created nearly two years ago, in a last-minute attempt to get it online.
- Creating a design for this site. I didn’t make the template I’m using now, and I don’t feel that it’s really me.
- I also want to enter some writing contests with some stories that already exist. It would take a little editing and maybe some time to finish any that are in progress.
Obviously, homework is a priority. The rest is stuff that I want to do, not that I need to do. Still, I think that Thumbtacks is a priority and so is finishing the Letters of Love site. Everything else comes later, a little at a time.
That being said, I’m going to follow Miss Britt’s example and take a hiatus from blogging (gasp!) and Twitter (GASP!). I know, I know. You don’t think I can do it. I’m going to, though, even though it’s going to be hard not to share every little moment with the rest of the world. I just hope you guys won’t leave me in the dust! I’m going to try and concentrate completely on homework, my novel and Letters of Love. You won’t be mad at me, will you?
